In his long career, Roger Dubuis worked for companies like Longines and Patek Philippe. In 1995, he partnered with Carlos Diaz to form his eponymous brand. 1999 saw the launch of the watchmaker's first in-house movements stamped with the Geneva Seal, a highly prestigious marking which guarantees a movement's quality. In 2001, the company built a manufacturing facility just outside Geneva. Roger Dubuis launched the famous Excalibur Collection in 2005. In 2008, Richemont acquired a majority stake in the company, purchasing the remainder in 2016. Dubuis himself died in 2017. The company is known for its highly complex calibers and innovative, contemporary designs.
